Dr. Wally Kojima & Dr. Valerie Kitamori

    Dr. Wally Kojima

    Dr. Wally Kojima received his Doctor of Optometry degree (with distinction) from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he was a member of the honor society and received numerous awards for academic and professional studies. He has been in practice for over 30 years and has been very active in his profession serving as Director for Hawaii Island in the Hawaii Optometric Association for 8 years and currently serves on the Board of Optometry for the State of Hawaii (appointed in 2019 by Governor Ige). He has had the privilege of attaining membership with the American Optometric Association, the College of Vision Development, and the Optometric Extension Program Foundation. Dr. Kojima is committed to the health of his patients and the evolving medical advances in optometry. He annually participates in advanced continuing education and utilizes the latest technology in the industry for his patients.

    Outside of practicing optometry, he has been involved in youth sports, coaching various age levels in baseball and basketball.

    Born and raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii, Dr. Kojima and his wife Julie have two children and resides in Waimea. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, running and golfing.

  • Dr. Kitamori
    Dr. Valerie Kitamori

    Dr. Valerie Kitamori received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She completed externships with an emphasis in ocular pathology at the US Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan and the Walla Walla VA Medical Center in Washington. She trained alongside corneal and retinal specialists at the Nevada Eye Consultants Medical Center, and has experience fitting specialty contact lenses with Dr. Barry Leonard and Associates in Los Angeles. She also completed a residency program specializing in ocular pathology and specialty contact lenses at the Spokane VA Medical Center in Washington. 

    Before joining Dr. Kojima & Associates, Dr. Kitamori spent 4 years working in different Lenscrafters locations throughout San Diego, California. During her spare time she volunteered at the San Diego Food Bank, American Red Cross Association, and the Lions Optometric Vision Clinic. She has also been a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and San Diego County Optometric Society. 

    Born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii, Dr. Kitamori currently resides in Kailua Kona where she enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs, hiking, golfing, and spending time at the beach.
